Expansion joints bridge the gap between deck and abutment, accommodating thermal movements, creep, shrinkage and seismic displacements while ensuring smooth, quiet traffic flow.
Available types
- Elastomeric joints: for small and medium movements (up to ±160 mm per element), with fast installation and easy maintenance.
- Modular joints: multi-element joints for large movements on long-span bridges.
- Finger / comb joints: for high-speed motorways where low rolling noise is required.
- Buried joints: beneath asphalt layers for small movements on minor structures.
